SideOut ("the app") is a recreational volleyball team generator, scoreboard and session organiser published by Flux Developments ("we", "us"). This policy explains what data we handle and why.
You can use SideOut as a guest without signing in. If you choose to save your profile, you can create an account using your email address or Sign in with Apple. We store your account identifier and, if provided, your email address so you can sign back in on another device. Authentication and account storage are handled by our backend provider, Supabase.
When you use online features (creating or joining a session, or saving your profile to an account) we store the following on our backend so it can sync between devices and to other players in your session:
Players who join a session — including via the web join page, without the app — can see the names, positions and photos of others in that same session. Profile photos are stored in a publicly accessible bucket, meaning the image can be viewed by anyone who has its link.
Players in a session — including anyone who joined from the web page without the app — can see the names, positions, shirt numbers and photos of others in that same session. People in your club can see your name and your replies to its sessions.
Coaching notes are private to your team's coaching staff unless the person who wrote one chooses to share it with the player it is about. A player can always read the notes that have been shared with them, and never sees the ones that haven't.
Tournaments you run, any match in progress, and your badges are kept on your device and are not sent to us. Using "Reset profile & data" in the Profile screen removes local data; deleting the app removes it too.
You can delete your account and everything associated with it at any time from the Account screen in the app: Profile → Account → Delete account. You can also remove individual things — your photo, your match history, a comment, a club membership — without deleting your account.

If you would rather we did it, email sideout@fluxdevelopments.co.uk from the address on your account. We confirm and delete within 30 days, usually much sooner. Routine encrypted backups are overwritten on a rolling 30-day cycle, after which no copy remains.
Camera access is used only to scan SideOut QR codes for joining sessions. Photo-library access is used only if you choose to set a profile picture. Camera frames are processed on-device and are not recorded.
We use Supabase (database, authentication and file storage) as our backend processor. We use Apple for Sign in with Apple. We do not use advertising or third-party analytics or tracking SDKs, and we do not sell your data. If you tap an Instagram handle you are taken to Instagram, whose own policy then applies.
SideOut is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13.
