SideOut ("the app") is a recreational volleyball team generator, scoreboard and session organiser published by Flux Developments ("we", "us"). This policy explains what data we handle and why.
You can use SideOut as a guest without signing in. If you choose to save your profile, you can create an account using your email address or Sign in with Apple. We store your account identifier and, if provided, your email address so you can sign back in on another device. Authentication and account storage are handled by our backend provider, Supabase.
When you use online features (creating or joining a session, or saving your profile to an account) we store the following on our backend so it can sync between devices and to other players in your session:
Players who join a session — including via the web join page, without the app — can see the names, positions and photos of others in that same session. Profile photos are stored in a publicly accessible bucket, meaning the image can be viewed by anyone who has its link.
Match history (scores, sets, XP, badges) and your in-progress session and tournament data are stored locally on your device. Using "Reset profile & data" in the Profile screen removes local data; deleting the app removes it too.
You can delete your account and the profile data associated with it at any time from the Account screen in the app. This removes your stored profile from our backend. You can also email us to request deletion.
Camera access is used only to scan SideOut QR codes for joining sessions. Photo-library access is used only if you choose to set a profile picture. Camera frames are processed on-device and are not recorded.
We use Supabase (database, authentication and file storage) as our backend processor. We use Apple for Sign in with Apple. We do not use advertising or third-party analytics or tracking SDKs, and we do not sell your data. If you tap an Instagram handle you are taken to Instagram, whose own policy then applies.
SideOut is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13.
